Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026‑06‑27
FiberLens is an OTDR trace viewer for macOS, iPhone and iPad. We built it to respect your privacy. Your trace files and measurements never leave your device through FiberLens, and we do not run servers that receive them.
What we don't collect
- No account. FiberLens has no sign‑in. We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal details to use the app.
- No trace data. The
.sor/.msorfiles you open, the events, distances, losses, and any reports you generate are processed entirely on your device. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party by FiberLens. - No advertising, no ad trackers, no cross‑app tracking. FiberLens does not show ads and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Data that stays on your device or in your own iCloud
- App settings and recent files. Your preferences (units, thresholds, attenuation limits, calculator defaults) and your list of recently opened files are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, some settings may sync across your own Apple devices through Apple's iCloud Key‑Value Storage. This data lives in your iCloud account, encrypted by Apple — we cannot see it.
- Files you choose to open. FiberLens only reads files you explicitly select. It does not scan your device.
Information Apple shares with us
If you install FiberLens from the App Store, Apple provides the developer with aggregate, anonymous statistics (for example, number of downloads, app crashes, and overall usage), as described in Apple's own policies. This data is not linked to your identity and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Feedback and links
- Send Feedback opens your email app with a message addressed to us. We only receive your message — and whatever you choose to write in it — if you send the email. We use it solely to respond to you and improve the app.
- Links such as Help, Privacy Policy, and Website open in your browser. Those websites have their own privacy practices.
Children
FiberLens is a professional tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we change how FiberLens handles data (for example, if we ever add optional, anonymous usage analytics), we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Any analytics we might add in the future would be opt‑in and would never include your trace contents.
